Commentaries Respond to Downriver Concerns about Milltown Sediments
October 2, 2008

In today’s CFRTAC commentary for Montana Public Radio (PDF), CFRTAC’s Milltown technical advisor Chris Brick offers an update on the downstream effects of the Milltown Dam removal. Here’s the upshot in a snippet:

“Arsenic in the river rose slightly over the drinking water standard on the day after the dam breach, but it’s remained within safe levels ever since. The river is safe for swimming, it’s safe for fishing, and it’s safe for splashing around with your kids and throwing sticks for your dog.”

In another piece, writing as the Clark Fork Coalition’s science advisor, Chris Brick joined Montana Trout Unlimited executive director Bruce Farling in an op-ed piece for the Missoulian that revisits just why the Milltown Dam had to be removed. Read it here.
