|A Future After the Cleanup: A Park Plan Emerges at Milltown|
September 19, 2007
A community stakeholders group in Milltown is urging residents to come see what a new Milltown park at the restored confluence of the Clark Fork and Blackfoot Rivers might look like this Friday, Sept. 21, at an open house at St. Ann’s Church in Bonner.
The Milltown Superfund Redevelopment Working Group, Missoula County, and EPA are sponsoring a design workshop to build upon the Working Group’s concept for public uses at the restored Milltown Dam Site. The workshop will be conducted on September 20 and 21, 2007. Drawing upon community input and existing information, the workshop will plan connections between the possible public use area and local communities, design key focal areas, and determine specific locations for facilities. Landscape architects, resource professionals, key stakeholders and community members will participate in this intensive 2-day workshop to be followed by a public presentation of the draft site plan.
On Friday Sept. 21 there will be two opportunities for public involvement, both at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bonner on Highway 200 next to the Bonner School.
* 11:30-1:00 PM. Free chili feed. First-glimpse public viewing and comment regarding the park plan in progress mid-way through the workshop.
* 7:00-9:00 PM. Final “unveiling” of the plan, complete with visuals.
